A few minutes after the water

Water can leave sediment and moisture behind. Follow the interactive manual for cleaning and drying, and check for grit or trapped line before the next outing.

Pay attention to the bearings

Use bearing-appropriate lubricant recommended in the manual, including suitable WD-40 products or fishing-reel lubricant. A thin protective film helps limit rust and corrosion. Follow the lubricant manufacturer’s directions and avoid excess.

Know when to pause

If the reel becomes gritty, obstructed or uneven, stop and inspect it. Less ratchet contact wear does not mean maintenance-free.
