Magnetic interaction, made personal
As the spool turns, its magnetic array interacts with the outer ring. Small movements of the outer-ring magnets within their chambers create the distinctive clicking and tactile response. Their arrangement affects resistance, sound and feel together.
Less wear at the click mechanism
There is no traditional toothed ratchet engaging a pawl. Removing that repeated engagement removes wear at that interface. Bearings, magnet chambers and other moving parts still need care; lower wear does not mean zero wear.
A clear distinction
The production Fly-Fin reel does not include the eddy-current brake explored during development. Its magnetic response should not be described as a proven linear, speed-proportional brake.

Explore quieter feedback, a distinct click or a different tactile rhythm by adjusting the outer-ring magnets according to the manual. A separate Silent Core ring is no longer sold or needed to explore these configurations.

- Record your starting configuration in the Setup Lab.
- Follow the manual to change magnet placement or polarity.
- Compare spool control, sound and feel at similar speeds.
- Test the assembled reel before fishing.
Sound and resistance are connected. A quieter setup should not be assumed to keep the same resistance, and no configuration is specified as absolutely silent.
